Here we go again. Now our financial records are under the microscope.

To say that this revelation is a threat to national security is just laughable. Does anyone really believe that terrorist organizations are moving large sums of money through standard banking channels?

Ever had to fill out a CTR form at a bank if you try to wire or send more than $10K in a single day? Ever heard of a SAR (Suspicious Activity Report)?

Go interact with your local bank and try to move a decent chunk of money.  There are fences and loops you have to jump through and all along the way you leave traces of your identity.  These are serious deterrents.

These ‘backroom’ survellience programs seem to only serve as a tool after an attack.  They can track back money trails to the sources after the fact.
